I don't believe in busy work. The homework should be more thought of as "intentional practice". The students should be working on the math and ELA that they need to work on the most in order to reach goals within the current unit. The work should not be too easy, nor too hard. A student should spend about 30 minutes per day on math. If you or your child are not sure what to work on, please contact me through the Remind App. If your child is trying to get ahead in math, or has been behind in math, the 30 minutes may need to be exceeded several times per week. The daily HW practices responsibility and good habits and will help prepare the students for success in middle school, high school, and college or careers. You should not have to teach your child the academics at home. You do need to provide an appropriate place and time to study.
